Laying of the first stone of the future Spiritual Center of the Assumption.

This Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:40 a.m., the ceremony of blessing and laying of the first stone of the future Assumption Spiritual Center begins in Katendere. This center is dedicated to the honor of the Dutch Assumptionist missionary fathers, including the very last Henri Schilder and Michel Zenstra. This is to continue their intention on Katendere-Kyondo but also to mark the Centenary of Assumptionist presence in Africa. We do not have everything we need to complete this work which begins today. But we believe in divine providence. This is why the Word of God chosen for the occasion invoked Jesus Christ, the cornerstone. Our intention is that Jesus Christ will complete the work that begins today. The ceremony was presided over by Father MUSANGANIA KOMBI Jean-Paul, African Provincial of the Assumptionists in the presence of some of his Assistants, Fathers of Kyondo and Katendere, our two Engineer Fathers, Faustin WATEVIRWE and Jean-René BAYENGO, the Head of the Seminary cell, formerly Kivandya cell, and the masons. In his words, the Provincial did not fail to thank God for having given us visionary missionaries and for having made us their heirs. After the final blessing and the song of thanksgiving, the floor is given to the customary chief and the head of the cell and to the engineers. In short, they thank everyone who is present to launch the construction started today. May God bless all our benefactors and each of those who support this work.
